Sebuah Band exceptional dari indonesia, bisa menjadi the next mocca. tidak, bukan dalam hal musikalitas(sama2 brilian, tapi dengan genrenya masing2), tapi dalam tingkat kesuksesan memperkenalkan lagunya.

lagu2 mereka amat brilian, sentuhan belle and sebastian (lagi2) kerap terdengar disana sini, namun ada satu hal yang sangat dominan di album debut mereka, yaitu sentuhan "grandeur" dan "fantasy world" seperti yang biasa kita dengar dan asosiasikan dengan "alice in wonderland" (nyambung ama judul albumnya yah. curiouser and curiouser. alice in wonderland. got it?ok,read the english version!)

gw ga dapet link buat ep2 nya.maap yah
sebuah gabungan dari berbagai macam ep yang telah mereka terbitkan (ada lagu remix, tapi gw lupa ada lagu baru apa nggak)

indonesian belle and sebastian? nggak juga sih. kedengeran banget sih belle and sebastiannya, sempet juga gw berpikir bahwa ini adalah "versi rapihnya rumahsakit"

overall, musiknya damai,rapih,tanpa banyak gangguan suara dimana2, cocok didengarkan dimana saja. ga ada distorsi, cuma ada suara accoustic dan tambahan2 yang ga mengganggu telinga dan menyejukkan mood.

yang disayangkan dari band ini adalah, liriknya hampir semuanya berbahasa inggris, kecuali di track "pop kinetik" (bukan di album, tapi di salah satu EP. ini pun lagu rumahsakit, bukan lagu mereka)

The next arctic monkey? gw rasa bukan. mereka punya style mereka sendiri..dan mereka...bukan dari inggris!
ya gw juga bingung tumben2an amerika punya band semantep ini (bosen banget dengerin P!ATD,FOB,dkk. diputar berulang2)

mengusung sebuah aliran musik yang jarang dimainkan band2 modern jaman sekarang, yaitu african pop. (okay.pop dengan sedikit sentuhan african pop).benar2 sebuah alternatif segar untuk penikmat2 musik yang sudah mulai bosan dengan scene musik sekarang....

Superb pop band!
terinspirasi dari radiohead,tidak membuat mereka terdengar "just another radiohead-like band"
agak susah dicernanya sih musik lagu2 dari band ini. tapi mereka membuat adiksi...bahkan dari track pertama yang liriknya hanya 4 baris(waktu baru beli, saya selalu membawa cd ini bersama disc man saya,,hari gini masih pake disc man aja bib)
alternatif yang bagus untuk perkembangan musik pop indonesia (or should i say psychedelic pop?whatever)
masih menunggu album keduanya!! (kenakalan remaja di era informatika)

setelah mencari2 beberapa waktu, akhirnya gw menemukan satu rilisan dari band from my past-childhood ini...
saya ingat dulu track "dulu" sangat ngehype di radio2 (dan sekarang GEN FM juga mulai sering memainkan lagu ini lagi)

alirannya mirip2 sama jill-decoy association atau Groove Bandit (that groove bandit trio)

nikmat lah.lumayan buat didengerin kalo lagi sepi, lagu2nya lumayan sing along kok.

sebuah contoh yang baik untuk band bergenre "indiepop", dan telah menjadi banyak panutan bagi band2 indiepop di seluruh dunia.tak terkecuali indonesia! (banyak trace dari band ini di berbagai band indiepop indonesia)

jujur gw agak telat dengerin nih band, gw baru dengerin waktu "funny little frog" keluar. dan album yang pertama gw dengarkan juga "the life pursuit"

well anyway, sangat sulit unntuk mencari cd original dari band ini (ok, i found this store on citos sells a bunch of B&S album.....for almost 200k a CD!)

cuma sedikit yang bisa gw dapatkan dari band ini....mereka bahkan tak punya myspace...
ni band (indie child rock kalo di yutub). cuma kalo menurut definisi gw sih, ni band alirannya "indie pop dangdut". yeah,ada sentuhan2 dangdutnya memang.
permainan instrumennya brilian...namun suara vokalisnya lucu...membuat band ini lebih terdengar seperti band lawak..
btw. band ini merupakan salah satu band brilian yang sayangnya harus putus di tengah jalan (baru rilis satu album pula!)

don't know why even their first album lacking the additional sounds of string and brass sections but it's their most addictive album for me so far.

with the additional swing genre, the sounds are cool.thanks mostly to arina's sweet vocal and ahmad pratama's bass playing (my favourite indonesian bass player). this is one of the band that makes me proud being an indonesian!

my personal favourite of all time.band inspirasional (yah walaupun mereka juga amat sangat terinspirasi dari the stone roses dan kawan2nya).
indah sekali mendengarkan band2 jaman 90an...sayangnya mereka sudah bubar tahun 2004.. (dan gw baru berkesempatan mendengarkan mereka pas SMP!)

bandnya sendiri memainkan musik2 britpop (waktu itu sedang ada "brit invasion"). permainan gitarnya di album pertama ala britpop/indiepop banget, yaitu banyak petikan dan kreatif dalam mengaransemen musik, beda dari yang lain, di album kedua mereka lebih banyak memainkan gitar berdistorsi.
dan vokalnya....vokal andri memang...khas untuk kalangan musisi indonesia (walaupun,sekali lagi, sangat britpop)
tapi mungkin bagi kamu2 yang suka musik pop jaman sekarang (pop disini dalam artian "popular", bukan genre), mungkin sebaiknya tetap mendengarkan band2 macam ungu,samsons,dan kawan2nya saja lah...
what a legend....

baru bisa nulis lagi..setelah perjalanan yang melelahkan dan malas saya ceritanya
jadi gw abis download lagu2nya tokyo jihen (abis 3 album)




here's the first album, kyouiku. well, to telll you the truth, there's not much of differences of this album to the LAST album. sounds cool, though. but definitely needs improvements everywhere. don't get me wrong, not they're not cool but... yeah maybe some experiments would do. (all of them are so skilled though)

now the second album. adult (to show their maturity?). not much differences from the other albums (don't know why, their EPs are somewhat..different...). but, this is my favourite album though...yeah, just like the title says, they've became more...adult...

and finally, the third album (hey,they still have 5 EPs more!). not much of diferences, except shiina ringo doesn't make any music in this album.yep your eyes serve you right, she only make lyrics for about two songs (i forgot). still, it doesn't make much difference,though. the ggod thing is, it doesn't matter which album you hear, it serves your ear well. the bad thing is, when you decide to go on a 3-album marathon (or plus the 5 EPs?)...hmm...maybe you'll just stop at the "adult" and maybe change it to local artist....(tired of hearing some unknown lyrics too!)
